the dream with the owl

you often come to me in my deepest sleep
you always come to me when I’m alone
you know when to appear in the weirdest dreams
like the one in which we owned an owl
and it stood on the wood fence ’round our lawn

don’t you worry
there’s no hurry
some tales are best untold
and certain others, scream them to the world

I feel like I know you
like I always have
in every tiny detail of your face
but you came out of the blue
and the life you’ll have
just live it by your own beliefs and pace

…and often come to me in my deepest sleep…

you and the owl were real in the strangest dream
before I was awoken by the wind…
