I knew a lad, TJ Mungalowe
he was born in New Mangalore
his daddy used to tell him loads of lies
he used to live in a bungalow
owned and run by the Mungalowes
one day he came home sobbing and crying
he’d just found out that his father’s words could not be trusted
oh, what a woe
it changed the complexion of his life
so he made himself a promise that
he would quit his job and would find his path
and out he went into the night
and he would shine, shine, shine
shine through the night
so he saw a drum-kit in a panda car
driver had forgotten the door ajar
he’s still the car and become a rockstar
it would take him years but he practiced hard
had an ever growing pop repertoire
he named his band after a strip bar
and he would shine, shine, shine
shine through the night
all he ever wanted was his mother’s love
he would be a child she would be proud of
but her mother knew a thing or two
so she told him in no uncertain terms
as historians would later confirm
that his tunes were really not that good
