I saw you walking towards me
as you were pacing down your street
and you just killed me with what you said
it didn’t sound like anything you’d ever said or would say to me
good thing it turned out to be a dream
one of the worst I’d ever had
so bad I gasped for air and screamed

cos I saw you walking in real life
you taught me how to hold my head high

for all the pain
for all the harm
it’s still a life with all its charm

and it was great to see you
in spite of all those words
for though they cut so deep
that voice was still yours

if you were here you’d understand
we’d even laugh of my plight
but it’s not a plight, if you can still mend
or just accept you need to fight

and I’ll see you in many more dreams
and hear more truthful words
and they’ll hit just as deep
through that voice of yours
